Zehava Lupu makes love to the canvas and the color,  she repeats the pattern that looks the same and different at every time.  The degree of pleasure and success also differs every time,  as a kind of activity cycle and life-cycle that is connected to her internal cycle of needs.  Lupu listens to herself,  talks with herself and listens,  and all of this comes out reflected in the colorful textures she builds into her artwork

It seems Lupu is not aware of the psychological logic which supports her work, because she’s working out of an inertia which logic is missing from her awareness. As we look at her works beyond the first step of general impression, our experience will change gradually. It might deepen, change its emphasize or change to new horizons. Lupu brings sketches and sensitiveness of the color of life, one next to the other, which creates pluralism of tensions. Lupu expresses it using color, shape and inner rythem.

Licentiata a Academiei de muzica din Tel Aviv dar si a Institutului de arta plastica “Avni”, Zahava a gasit, se pare, modalitatea de a combina cele doua haruri cu care a binecuvintat-o natura. Ea construieste tabloul ca pe o compozitie muzicala, respectind niste reguli din care nu lipsesc armonia si contrapunctul. Alege o melodie dupa starea de spirit in care se afla (muzica israeliana, sound “negru” , incantatii gregoriene sau arii din opere) si culorile potrivite.

EXHIBITION AT HERZLIYA MUSEUM – ABSTRACT PAINTINGS

Zahava Lupu’s abstract compositions call for an inner journey into the deep layers, most of which are hidden between the paper and the coating. Zahava Lupu does not disclose everything and her creatively is based o the tension between the concealed and the apparent. Between an emotional an emotional agitation, expressed by the strong black lines, and the harmonic and minor tones expressed by the pastel colours. Here as well, the spectator should not be overcome by a relaxed and pastoral feeling. The harmonic layers contain a burst of feelings that can be discovered after a closer examination of the texture and the laying of the colour. Yoav Dagon, Curator, Museum director.

The works we are presented with show that since the birth of new trends, following the unique achievement of the impressionism, the abstract has not fully expressed itself yet. Maybe it is the intelligent abstract area that has to follow the powerful impressionist painting. Anyone who naturally clings to this way of expression, Like Zahava Lupu, establishes a particular personal fingerprint. This achievement by itself determines the artist’s true stature. Amos Aricha
